Trieste Contemporanea celebrates its 30th anniversary on June 27th with a special exhibition and cultural program titled Feelings of Togetherness, which will run from June through the fall.
At the heart of the celebrations are two main exhibitions, accompanied by a special online event that will engage the public remotely as well, in a spirit of sharing and international dialogue.
The first exhibition, Feelings of Togetherness, will open on June 24th at 7:00 pm in the Sala Umberto Veruda of Palazzo Costanzi (Piazza Piccola 2), a space kindly provided by the Municipality of Trieste. It will be open to the public from June 25th to July 6th.
This exhibition offers a visual narrative of Trieste Contemporanea’s thirty years of activity through four thematic stations, showcasing artworks, videos, photographs, books, prints, and documents. Feelings of Togetherness will be accompanied by a generative sound installation by Udine-based musician Antonio Della Marina, enriching the visitor’s experience with an immersive sensory dimension. A Morse code message celebrating the founding of the Trieste Committee will also be displayed on the walls, written in twelve European languages.
The second Feelings of Togetherness exhibition will be inaugurated on June 27th at 7:00 pm at Studio Tommaseo, the historic venue of Trieste Contemporanea (via del Monte 2/1).
Open until September 26th, this exhibition continues the narrative of the first, exploring the artistic languages and developments that have shaped the Committee’s history— an organization that has consistently supported emerging creativity and dialogue with Central and Eastern European countries.
Also on June 27th, the public can join a digital event shared on Trieste Contemporanea’s official Instagram account. From 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, a Morse code message translated into twelve European languages will be posted every hour. This symbolic gesture honors cultural transmission, the collective construction of knowledge, and the power of dialogue among people and communities.
Trieste Contemporanea wishes to thank everyone who has made this journey possible: artists, curators, collaborators, partners, and of course the public who, over these thirty years, have shared projects, ideas, and visions. It is thanks to this spirit of community that the center continues to grow, evolve, and imagine new futures for contemporary art in Europe.
Since 1995, Trieste Contemporanea has organized over 300 exhibitions in Italy and abroad, featuring internationally renowned artists and emerging talents alike—thanks to a strong network of cultural partners throughout Europe.
