european design for blown glass from the collection of trieste contemporanea’s competitions
Since its foundation in 1995, several thousand European designers have participated in the competition of Trieste Contemporanea, which for the past four years has been dedicated to glass. In Bassano, 48 works are showcased. These works were presented in the final exhibitions of the following competitions: 2002 (fragile!), 2004 (eatable glass) and 2008 (graal glass). The glass pieces were realized by the Fornace Anfora of Murano. The 2006 edition (glassdressing), dedicated to jewelry in glass, was realized in collaboration with the Abate Zanetti School of Murano. It is documented by a video by Gaetano Mainenti and Daniela Manzolli, filmed at Ca’ Rezzonico – Museo del Settecento Veneziano.
To present the glass collection of Trieste Contemporanea at the Palazzo Agostinelli is a rare occasion for us to see the work realized for our competition as a whole, and to capture in a single viewing the various expositive editions designed for Venice at Ca’ Rezzonico and for Trieste at the Museo Revoltella and at Stazione Rogers. Above all, we believe the gracious invitation of Giuliana Ericani, director the Museo civico of Bassano, is a good intuition which will help open a new, stimulating direction of innovative dialogue with European Design and the great school of ceramics of Bassano and Nove.
