Trieste Contemporanea presents Lithuanian Videospritz, a two-day event with the artists Inga Galinytė and Jurga Juodytė. The project, curated by Daniele Capra, compares the research of the two artists starting from the practice of performance and dance, to analyze more intimate and at the same time political themes linked to the body, to the assigned roles and to the forms of social interaction. The event is introduced by a conversation between the artists and the curator in which Inga Galinytė and Jurga Juodytė talk about their approach and the ways in which they conduct their investigation and takes place on Friday 10 December at 18.30 (in English).
The second part of the Lithuanian Videospritz programme, dedicated to the Day of Contemporary Art in Italy (17th AMACI day), takes place on Saturday 11 December from 15.00 and consists of the screening of the entire video production of the two artists.

The research of Inga Galinytė (Vilnius, 1988) stems from an interest in performing arts, dance and theatre: in the artist’s work these different languages are mixed, also in works created in collaboration with other artists. Many of her works stem from an analysis of the dynamics of empathy between people and address the theme of overcoming a traumatic experience through behaviour, rituals, body movement. Inga Galinytė exhibited (in duo with Anna Papathasiou) at the Kaunas Biennale (LT), at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius, at the Watermill Center in New York and also took part in the Lithuanian project for the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. She is currently in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The artistic practice of Jurga Juodytė (Varkalės, 1978) ranges from performance to video, from conceptual art to social design. Social habits, prejudices and stereotypes conveyed by tradition or advertising are frequently the starting points for her works: they address the themes of difference, the imprisonment of expectations and the search for identity.
She exhibited at the Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center in Klaipėda (LT), at the 101 Gallery of the Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas (LT), at the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius, at the International Drawing Triennial, at the Tallinn Art Hall (Estonia), at the Center for Contemporary Art in Plovdiv (BG), at the Birnam Arts Center in Birnam (UK), at the M.K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum, in Kaunas, at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius. She lives and works in Vilnius.

Lithuanian Videospritz is a project prepared for the Trieste Contemporanea’s Videospritz video art presentation series by the Lithuanian Culture Institute, under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Italy, organized in collaboration with the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. The event is part of AMACI 17th Day of Contemporary Art (11 December 2021).

A COVID-19 Green Pass and a face mask are required to attend the events.
